Frequently Asked Questions

Why Therapy?

If you are feeling that "something in my life has to change" then you have come to the right place. Therapy CAN transform your life. Therapy is an emotional investment, a personal process, that transforms the behaviors, thought patterns, relationships, and directions in your life that are causing distress, conflict, crisis, and heartache. It is one of the most important investments you will make for yourself and your loved ones and I know it takes courage to take that first step. Therapy answers the questions, “Who Am I?”, “What do I want?”, “What is holding me back?”, “Why do I want to change?” and “How can I do it?”.  It is the beginning of a sacred journey to create a more authentic self, the life you want to lead, and deeper intimacy in your relationships.

Therapy provides a safe, supportive environment for your innermost feelings, concerns and wants to be expressed and heard. Each session is your own personal laboratory where we work together to resolve the issues at hand and explore how your personal history has influenced where you are right now. Change occurs rapidly as deeper wisdom is acquired, new possibilities are revealed, and your confidence is strengthened. You will feel empowered to take charge of your life. Newly learned habits and behaviors in communication, love, relationships, and thoughts replace old, dysfunctional ones. Life becomes more authentic, joyous and forward-moving.

The Initial Session

The initial session involves sharing what you want to overcome, expressing your hopes for the future, and charting a course to achieve your goals. It's a incredible opportunity to review and evaluate what has been going on in your life. An initial autobiography is required prior to your initial session. The guidelines to creating that are here. With an autobiography in hand, we have your personal history and your initial session is not taken up in gathering that information. Instead, it is a working session, geared to establishing a treatment plan that is best suited for your needs and determining if we are a good fit.

Session Payments and Fees

Session payments can now be processed securely through PayPal using your credit or check debit card. PayPal is a free, secure, and is the payment service of choice for most professionals. Session payments must be received at least two days prior to your session to allow for bank processing. Credit card, checks and cash are accepted at our office at time of session.

Insurance

We are a private pay practice and are not in-network with insurance companies. Sessions are to be paid at time of session or, in the case of teletherapy or e-therapy, paid 24-hours in advance of sessions. I will provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Contact your insurer for specific details about your coverage and how to obtain reimbursement for your visits with us.

Cancellation Policy

You are responsible for making and keeping your appointments. If you need to reschedule or cancel your session, we require 24-hour notice prior or you will be charged the full fee. No-shows will be billed automatically. The fee for cancelled sessions is payable at your next schedule appointment.
